F.A.Q

Choosing a counsellor, or beginning counselling, can sometimes be a difficult step.  Below are some frequently asked questions, and my answers, to those questions

Is Counselling for me?

Counselling is for everyone. It can be a great option to help you get through a difficult period in your life. It can be helpful to talk with a trained professional from outside your usual circle of family or friends.

What happens at the 1st appointment?

At our first appointment we will look at the events that have brought you to therapy. I will explain how I work, and, you will have an opportunity to ask any question you might have. Together we will decide on the best options for you, including whether I am the best person to help you at this time.

Who do you work with?

I work with Individuals (16+).

Individual therapy work can be face-to-face, telephone therapy or via secure online video link.

I also work with Couples- I define a couple as any 2 people in a committed (not necessarily intimate) relationship

What kinds of things can I talk about?

You can talk about whatever is on you mind, whether it is a current issue or something that has been with you for some time, or something you can’t actually put your finger on it right now. Some of these issues could range from stress and anxiety to grief and loss, relationship problems, trauma, abuse, to name but a few. To view more visit our services page.

How do you work as a therapist?

I work mainly from the Humanistic Integrative model. The Humanistic element of this means that I work with all elements of your life’s experiences, all the different and diverse pieces that have influenced the person that you are today. The Integrative element means that I draw from a number of theories, mainly Person Centered Theory, Gestalt and Existentialism, to design an approach which is unique to you.

I offer face-to-face sessions, telephone therapy and also therapy via online secure video platforms.

How much does it cost?

The fee is €60 per session for Individuals and €90 for Couples.

I offer a sliding scale for unwaged/students/OAP, please ask for more information at our Initial session.

All sessions booked online must be paid for in advance.  All other appointments must be paid for at the end of each session.
